Master's programmes

Industrial design engineering, MSc
Studying this master's programme will give you the skills to design better products and services, improving and making a real difference to people's everyday lives. It is user-centred and sustainability-oriented, with a holistic systems perspective on product development. A strong focus on the interplay between people, technology, and design will give you the unique combination of skills required to work within the humanistic dimension of technology. With creativity, empathic ability, deep theoretical knowledge of human behaviours, and a sense of responsibility regarding the potential solutions, you will be highly sought-after and uniquely well-equipped to tackle a wide variety of diverse challenges.

Product development, MSc
Master multi-disciplinary product development while taking user needs and the full life cycle of a product into consideration. Product development is a core industrial activity encompassing a great many diverse challenges — a multidisciplinary process of identifying and imagining the wishes of companies, end users, and wider society, and bringing those wishes to reality. Studying this master’s programme, you will acquire the knowledge and practical skills necessary to master multi-disciplinary product development while taking all phases of the product life cycle into consideration. After graduation, you will be well-placed for a variety of career paths, including R&D for large corporations, business development, start-up entrepreneurship, consultancy, or research.

Production engineering, MSc
Are you passionate about developing the next generation of production facilities for global manufacturing companies? This master’s programme will bring you up-to-speed in the latest advances in modern production, giving you the skills to improve and develop manufacturing processes and high-performing sustainable production systems. You will learn how to lead and develop new projects, as well as manage systems already in full operation. You will receive education in a broad base of production engineering, leaving you well placed to take up a wide variety of roles, in areas ranging from the automotive industry to medicine, health care, and food.

Materials engineering, MSc
As far back as the Stone Age, materials have played a significant and defining role in human development — central to contemporary prosperity and the keys to future social evolution. Material engineers, therefore, have an essential role to play in developing and refining the materials of today and tomorrow, exploring their limits and taking their potential to the next level. When you study this master’s programme, you will gain the knowledge and skills to drive innovation, handle the complexity of materials problems and to find solutions within the entire lifecycle of products and processes, from design and manufacturing to end use, and recycling.

Applied mechanics, MSc
Learn how to problem-solve and optimise product design within a broad spectrum of different engineering applications. This master’s programme will give you an internationally competitive education in modelling, computational and experimental techniques in applied mechanics. You will train how to solve solid, structural, and fluid mechanics problems in a broad spectrum of different application areas, gaining core competencies and preparing to become a key player for both large and small enterprises. You will also gain the skills required to work with the mechanical design of sustainable and competitive products — all while considering aspects like reliability, robustness, weight, and energy efficiency.
